Robert Palmer Watkins (Dillon, GH) became a huge fan of Allison Sweeney (ex-Sami, DAYS) when he worked with her behind the scenes at GH, where she was directing. “She is so awesome,” he marvels. “I didn’t really know her whole history of being on soaps and her career, but I recognized her right away, like, ‘I know her from somewhere.’ Then, obviously, I felt like an idiot because I was like, ‘Oh, yeah, duh, she’s been on soaps her whole life and she’s a huge star.’ But, wow, you could just tell right away that she is so passionate about what she does. While we were doing the blocking the first day she directed Emme Rylan [Lulu] and me, I stopped her and I was like, ‘I really like you!’ I looked at Emme and I was like, ‘I love her!’ She was going into so much more than just the blocking and, ‘Okay, come here when you say this line,’ All of the directors on the show are great, don’t get me wrong, they really are, but I think everybody is so focused on getting it done and cranking three episodes out, and you could just tell that this woman grew up acting and her first priority was getting a great performance and making sure that the actors knew their intentions and what every line meant and how it would come off, all the little details. She would even stop us while we were doing the scenes and run down and pull us aside and whisper something in our ear about, ‘Okay, what if you did it this way?’ or ‘When you touch her, that moment changes your life.’ Just so intricate! I just really appreciated it and the scenes came out great.”
